Kathy Dailey and Mark Chiarolanza, 2018 Republican candidates for Madison, NJ Borough Council, have been meeting with voters for breakfast at various Madison eating establishments.
"We started at The Waverly Restaurant last Saturday. This morning we enjoyed a hearty meal and some good conversation at the Nautilus Diner," commented Mark.
"Breakfast is my favorite meal, so I'm really enjoying our early morning tour of Madison," added Kathy. "Having a chance to meet and speak with folks as they start their days just adds to the fun, and it has helped us to understand what is important to Madison residents."
The candidates noted that the issue residents want to talk about most is the new Rose Hall and Madison Place development on Kings Road, and its impacts on the borough. "Mark and I do not raise this topic with voters when we speak with them, but we find that it just keeps coming up in conversation again and again. It's clear that Madison residents, both old-timers and newcomers, are displeased with the scale of the buildings, and they are very concerned about the impact that the added people, cars and traffic will have on the borough," explained Kathy.
From the beginning of their campaign, Kathy and Mark have emphasized the need to manage the pace of land development in Madison, and they have advocated for solutions to address traffic congestion. "Our ideas are resonating with voters. We will continue to knock on doors and ring doorbells, and we look forward to sharing more breakfasts with our neighbors," said Mark.
