The Madison Republican Committee joined with other area Republicans on September 10 at a “Huddle Up” event held at the Madison Common’s Clubhouse. The event was hosted by the Chairman of the NJ State GOP, Doug Steinhardt, and brought together Republicans across the 27th Legislative District. During the evening, Chairman Steinhardt and local elected officials and candidates discussed how the NJ GOP is fighting back against some of the current administration’s policies in the “Murphy Midterm” elections.
The event was part of the NJ GOP On the Road series, and Chairman Steinhardt focused on introducing the Republican candidates for Legislative District 27 to the public. NJ LD-27 Assembly candidate Mauro Tucci, a resident of Caldwell, addressed the standing-room-only crowd on the topic of taxes and spending. Tucci remarked that New Jersey residents pay some of the highest taxes in the country, and he emphasized the need to rein in Trenton’s spending so that families and businesses can afford to stay in our state. Madison also has a hometown candidate running for NJ State Assembly, Michael Dailey, who was represented at the event by his wife, Kathy Dailey. Like his running mate Mauro Tucci, Dailey is concerned with the high cost of living in New Jersey. Dailey is also alarmed by the gradual and persistent erosion of individual’s rights by our state, particularly with the recent additional gun control laws that target law-abiding citizens instead of criminals. Dailey and Tucci are running against incumbents John McKeon and Mila Jasey, who have represented Madison since the redistricting occurred in 2010.
Like running mate Mauro Tucci, Dailey is concerned with the high cost of living in New Jersey and by its gradual and persistent eroding of the civil rights of state residents.
The Republican slate of candidates running in Madison and Morris county in November had an opportunity to present as well. Morris County Sheriff Jim Gannon shared the successes of his Hope One program, which continues to offer critical support for persons struggling with addiction. He spoke about other initiatives that his office is taking to help individuals within Morris County and about the need to ensure fiscally responsible management of law enforcement resources. Morris County Freeholder Kathy DeFillippo spoke on behalf of the incumbent team of Freeholders Doug Cabana, Tom Mastrangelo, and herself. The crowd also heard from Republican candidate for Morris County Surrogate, Freeholder Heather Darling.
At the local level, incumbent Madison Councilman Pat Rowe and his running mate, challenger Kathy Dailey, addressed the audience regarding their local campaign within the Borough of Madison.
Support for Republican campaigns is needed "in every corner of the state."

Summing up the evening, NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt acknowledged that “fixing NJ’s problems is going to take honest answers and hard work,” and he encouraged everyone present at the event to support the Republican campaigns "in every corner of the state."
The event was co-hosted by the Madison Republican Committee, the Harding Republican Club, and the Chatham Republican Club.
