The Madison Republican Committee is pleased to report that Michael Martinez received enough write-in votes in the Tuesday, June 6 primary election to appear on the general election ballot in November.

I appreciate very much the consideration and support of Republican primary voters; I humbly accept the call to join the campaign for town council.
I consider myself just a normal guy, a dad, a homeowner and a hard-working professional. The thought of running for office is strange for me, to be honest, and something I never thought I would do. And certainly not now, with three daughters under the age of 10. But I also love and care too much – about our town, my friends, family and neighbors – to sit back, do nothing and stay silent when I feel as strongly as I do that our town needs new leadership, a different approach and, most importantly and personally for me, a much stronger focus on public safety.
As a data-driven leader in a highly competitive Wall Street business, I have many ideas about the Borough’s finances, operations and strategic priorities which I am excited to share and discuss with you in the coming weeks and months.
Ultimately, I am highly confident that my passion, my ideas, my style, and my vision of local government will resonate.
I am looking forward to being both a candidate and a victor this November.
Biography
Michael Martinez is a 38-year old Madison resident and homeowner, father and family man, local volunteer and first generation American.
In the 1960s, Michael's parents and grandparents fled Fidel Castro's communist regime in Cuba, in blind pursuit of freedom and opportunity in the United States. Assimilating was not easy, but hard work and perseverance paid dividends over time, as they settled and prospered in New Jersey. In the early 1990s, Michael's family moved from Harrison to nearby East Hanover which is when Michael first began to visit and appreciate the beautiful community of Madison Borough.
In the 2010s, Michael and his wife Laura started their family and purchased their first home down the road in Morris Township. They quickly found themselves, however, pulled increasingly towards Madison's schools, parades, eateries and parks. With two children attending the St. Vincent Martyr School and participating in Madison athletics, they decided to move to Madison after their third daughter was born. In 2020, Michael, Laura, Mila, Sofia and Joelle found and purchased their forever home on Independence Court.
Within the community, Michael has contributed hundreds of hours since 2017 towards coaching and developing young boys and girls in the Madison tee ball, Madison softball and St. Vincent's basketball programs. He is currently a Head Coach in the 3rd/4th Grade Recreational Softball, Assistant Coach on 10U Travel Softball and Assistant Coach in 1st/2nd Rookie Softball. Michael also volunteers his analytical and operational skillset on the Board of Trustees for the Academy of St. Elizabeth where he helps guide the Administration on matters of governance, budgeting, branding and strategic planning.
Professionally, Michael oversees business and client strategy for a leading economic and equities research business on Wall Street. Over nearly twenty years in financial services, Michael has developed a reputation with colleagues and clients for acting with integrity and humility all while being impactful, skilled, and commercially creative.
Michael is a proud alumnus of Seton Hall Prep (Bleed Blue!) and Columbia University (Roar Lions Roar!). In his free time, Michael enjoys golf, the occasional cigar, exploring Madison with his 2-year old golden retriever Duke, and meticulously planning the perfect Disney World vacation.
