Dear Editor,
Madison should elect Matt Van Natten and Lenora Clark because they offer a fresh perspective, balance and will put “Community First.”
Mr. Haralampoudis is actively promoting the opposite of helping our community. He thinks it’s a great idea to make money from our town’s electric utility stating, “Using electricity from the grid; it's got to be some nice size revenue opportunity.” (Feb. 14th Madison Council Meeting) Madison has a monopoly on electricity which means residents cannot shop around for a lower rate. Tom, and the council, are actively encouraging residents to use more electricity to build their “electric slush fund” used to fund projects when our council spends all our tax dollars. He seems to forget inflation hits low- and middle-income families the hardest and profiting from electricity charges is a one-two punch to those households.
Mr. Haralampoudis acts concerned about lack of parking in town but as part owner of Bottle Hill Tavern he profits from eliminating parking spaces in front of his restaurant. He advocates for 2 hours plus parking in town which is a direct benefit to his restaurant at the expense of business owners who rely on the quick turnover of parking spots.
Finally, Mr. Haralampoudis was a proponent of tearing down the movie theater. If elected, what structure will be next?
If Tom Haralampoudis joins Rachel Ehrlich expect the continuation of a council who all agree to overspend and vote the same.
Sincerely,
Mary Wilson
